Absolute gem of a bar and restaurant, the best for a few miles around. Great service, really friendly staff, spotlessly clean, wonderful food. Not a large pub so probably best to book. Don't hesitate !

Great family meal

We had a lovely meal here today and were made to feel extremely welcome by all the staff! The food was clearly fresh, home made and very tasty. We would definitely recommend and will be coming back!
Our clear plates speak for themselves.

Excellent Pub Meal -really enjoyed the company

Excellent food, drink and wonderful staff - my wife had the chicken tikka and I had the fish pie - delicious. We will certainly be back as we had a great time

Best Mother’s Day Sunday lunch!

We came from Hull for mother’s day and my daughter had booked a surprise lunch . We were not disappointed- the biggest tastiest Sunday lunch we have ever had- beautifully cooked- meat was tender- every veg you could mention, gorgeous gravy! Lovely choice of sweets but what made it special was the lovely attentive staff- nothing was too much trouble and came and asked if we needed more gravy etc. Best Sunday lunch , great value and can highly recommend- will definitely come again soon ! Thank you

Sunday Lunch Bliss

Sept 2024  solo

Called in on my own and made very welcome. Pre-booked my Sunday lunch and it was delicious with lots of vegetable variety, chicken, stuffing, sausage and Yorkshire pud which is a must. Could not resist a naughty pudding too, syrup sponge with custard and wow was it tasty 😋 very reasonable and friendly traditional pub setting. Thank you for making me feel comfortable and welcome

Dec 2021  solo

I stopped off to take break from the M1 on a long drive up north and I couldn't have chosen a better place, I was made so welcome, the owners where engaging and could not do enough for you. The beer was excellent (cleans the lines once a week for 4hrs) The food is homemade and good. Please visit as we all know this industry is suffering. According to the landlady there are good dog walks and the pub is inviting, clean, and well presented

Absolutely Fantastic

Nov 2019  couples

This establishment has fantastic hosts & staff that really welcome you into their public house. The first time we entered this pub to try one of there highly recommended Sunday Roasts we were given such a warm welcome & the food was very plentyful & the taste was the best we have ever tasted anywhere else (just like your mum made). We thought this was a one off to impress us so we booked again for the following Sunday, We were not disappointed at all. This is now are regular Sunday lunch treat as nowhere else can touch this establishment for everything one is to expect, and the prices are very, very reasonable for what delishious food you get on your plate. I'm sorry Hillcote Arms but you are the best & we recommend you highly to everyone.

Wednesday night drink

Aug 2019 • none

Never been in this pub before until passing last night and decided to pop in. Made incredibly welcome when walked in and after ordering sat in the beautiful outdoor area, lots of potted plants, lights and seating with an umbrella if required. Next time I am going to try the Sunday lunch.

Friendly and warm

Feb 2019 • friends

That is the welcome we got. Booked a table for 12 and from the first phone call the staff were warm and tentative. I was looking for a location half way between me and my sister. Coming across this place on line and reading the reviews it seemed like the ideal place. Upon arrival the staff were warm and welcoming. The manger making herself know shortly after our arrival. Saying once our party was all here she would let the kitchen know. Once seated the food came out and was wonderful. A big Sunday dinner with lots of variety. The staff were tentative and even chatted with the children. Richard remembered my phone call and came over to ask if we had a nice time and were we happy with our choice of location. We could not of asked for more and will defiantly be visiting it again. It was perfect for our get together.

About us

Recent history of The Hilcote Arms

The pub was purchased in 2015 by Richard and Beverley Bradley AKA Brad & Bev who set about reinventing the building

As an old building brad told me that every piece of plaster board had to be cut to fit the diminutions of the walls

This was the start of the refurbishment double boarding the walls to keep the pub nice and warm in the winter months also keeping it cool in summer . New windows where added the bar area was constructed the gallery area had the windows replaced

Ladies and gents have been reinvented to a very high standard .Picnic style benches were added to the court yard beer garden

The pub was reopened in March 2017 Brad and Bev still remain very much hands on preparing and cooking the specials menu also preparing and cooking the Sunday lunches Julie Fletcher was appointed Manager in 2018

The final part of the jigsaw was the refurbishment of the snug room which houses the 3/4 snooker table / pool table plus the darts board .This room can be used for larger bookings for Sunday Lunch or private functions

So why not join us for a warm welcome  excellent food great selection of beers lagers wines and spirits cosy up around the log burner or maybe come in for our range of traditional pub games shove ha'penny pool dominoes snooker darts

You will also notice the 1966 juke box when you enter the pub this very much a talking point. Gifts can be purchased from brad's bookcase  in the dinning room or Bev's emporium cabernet in the bar area

We are also very proud to hold the top food hygiene rating of (5) which we have held since opening in 2017

We extend our welcome to our regulars and  also looking forward meeting new customers

From The Hilcote Arms Team. Come and meet Mine Host Brad and Bev Manager Julie Fletcher on Sundays our newest member of staff Izzy
