The story behind the selection

Theakston Traditional mild 3 Malt Ale ABV 3.5%

Mild as a beer style is one of the oldest in British brewing as the name suggests (mild) is mild in terms of alcohol and hop bitterness as a beer style. Mild was very popular in Britain before the last war. But since then as been over-shadowed by the popularity of lighter ales and lagers .But is now showing a resurgent interest .The malty flavour of mild makes the ale an ideal accompaniment to ploughman lunch or Sandwiches

Why not try a pint of Mixed half pint of Mild plus a half pint of John Smiths. My own story behind a pint of mixed comes from my home town of Kimberley in Nottinghamshire. The former brewery town used to have nine pubs in the town seven of which were all Kimberley Ales pubs later becoming Hardy and Hanson Pubs the other two were Shipstone's Brewery

The Shipstones drinkers always said that Kimberley bitter was to sweet for them to drink thats why they would drink pints of mixed and vice versa for the Kimberley Ale drinks
